Winmau Fury 24 gram Steel Tip Darts

The Winmau Fury is a deceptive looking barrel. At first glance it appears to be a torpedo shaped unit when in fact it’s a parallel or pencil shaped unit. It’s actually a striking design exercise in equal amounts of black and silver. The barrel is a touch under 51mm and a sleek 6.6mm in diameter. From the nose, the barrel starts at 4mm in diameter, and tapers up to 6.6mm over a 7mm length taking in 3 x 1mm wide grooves. This is followed by 8 x 2mm wide square cut grooves with a 2mm between grooves. The barrel tapers away to the shaft end, incorporating 5 x 1mm wide grooves 3 are black and 2 are given an orange highlight.

At the Oche, the square cut grooves provide a very positive grip for nearly the full length of the barrel. I found that a centre or rear grip provided the best results. Even though they are a centrally loaded dart, they just didn’t work with a front grip, well not for me.

Centre or rear grips flew perfectly, although by tuning the shaft length I may have been able to work through the imbalances.

The Fury’s are supplied with medium Winmau Vecta shafts and Prism Alpha flights to match the orange highlights on the barrel.

This is a set that is above my weight preference that said they’re also a set that are really easy to adapt to even though they are heavier. The darts look great they are a universal grip that is understated in look and feel, but very positive. Unlike silver pointed darts, the black coating on the point gives the points a very positive grip when the darts hit the board.

These are really nice darts in look and feel the package is good value for money if the length and profile fall into what you are looking for.
