Kyle Anderson 1987–2021 (Way too Young)

I’m not a huge fan of social media, but I was shocked like many people to see a number of posts over the past few days announcing the passing of Kyle Anderson at the age of 33 years.

I didn’t know Kyle Anderson personally, but over the years I have followed him and his achievements in the sport we love to play. I became an avid collector of darts released with Player endorsement, I liked his style and the darts he played with, his darts have pride of place in the portion of my collection that I have on display and have had for a while.

Kyle had been playing at the Top-level overseas for around 8 years.

I can’t tell you when I first noticed him as a player, but for me, he was always one of my favourites. Probably for the same reason that came through in the majority of the tributes posted online. Kyle from all accounts was a “real” person, he had the tag of the “Original”, I think that many people who knew him, saw him as the original Aussie bloke. A gentleman with a sense of humour and an absolutely brilliant talent in the world of professional sport.

To watch him on TV matching it with some of the greatest of our time, without doubt, his ability was reinforced by self-belief. Kyle, after all his success in the darts world, was still a nice guy, a fact attested to by many of his fellow professionals in social media. He achieved so much in a short-lived sporting career.

It’s a sad day when anyone passes, but at this young age with a young family it's even sadder. Our deepest condolences to his family at such a sad time. The whole darts community is a little poorer for Kyle’s passing, Rest in Peace.
