Mission Komodo RX M4 22g - Steel Tip Darts
Review by Ralf M.
Mission Komodo RX M4 22g
This is a very interesting design on a dart.
Not the shape, but the grip profile, at a distance the grip surface appears to be a reverse shark grip, but take a closer look and you'll understand why it gives such a positive grip.
The Barrel of the dart has 18 rings each ring has a 2 stepped shoulder, stepping down toward the back of the dart. The grip is great, and really grabs hold of your fingers, while at the same time its a profile that doesn't affect the way you release the dart.
So, on the positive side - great grip, they look great with their bronze coloured coating and the torpedo shape really sets the Komodo RX M4 apart from other similar shaped darts. Mission have supplied these with an evil looking flight that features scales and an evil red eye. Again great styling!
They are actually very easy to throw and, I started to achieve good results after a few walks to the board. Straight out of the box they feel relatively short in the hand, Possibly because they come with shorter stems than most darts. With a centre to rear grip they flew well and true without issue.
However, there is one thing that became obvious after a few closely grouped shots. The grip can work against you if you pack your darts together in one corner of the triple 20. The grip profile can cause some really unpredictable deflections, and really damage your flights. Deflections will eventually affect the barrel profile which in turn may affect the longevity of the grip.
Overall this is the first set I have reviewed that I've managed a 180 with.
Bear in mind that these are tapered front and rear and are centre balanced. They are a great all round package of looks, functionality and would suit more the centre or rear gripping player.
