XQMax Contour M2 23 gram 95% Tungsten Steel Tip Darts
Review by Ralf M.
XQMax Contour M2 Darts - 23g
The first thing that you notice about these is the way the blue coating changes intensity depending on how the light hits them. The colour changes from a light blue to an iridescent blue. A great effect that makes them stand out in the crowd.
The darts themselves are 51mm long and centre balanced. Two grip zones, front and rear.
The nose is a short-tapered affair that opens up to the barrel diameter of 6.6mm.
The grip is aggressive and there is almost no way that these will slip out of your hand.
Both grip areas are similar and divided by a smooth section between the two, with the rear of the dart tapering away to meet the shaft diameter. The supplied shafts are intermediate length, and the flights are matched to the Dart model colouring.
The barrels are very slim at 6.6mm and aided by the fact that they are 95% Tungsten.
They are easy in the hand and throw well too; the balance is superb with the set up as it is. They are thin and placement in any treble leaves plenty of room for following dart.
After a few throws I was regularly grouping tightly around the first dart, what was annoying was the number of times that I went into the back of one of the darts already in the board. Surprisingly “Robin Hooding” a dart left no lasting damage on the shaft that was hit and the spring rings supplied weren’t damaged either.
This is a very interesting grip profile that has been used across the whole XQMax Contour Range from the Pencil barrel M1, the tapered nosed M2 and the Rear Balance M3.
A really great set of darts for those who enjoy playing with a really grippy dart.
I really enjoyed these darts but the aggressive grip was a little distracting for me at times.
