Mission Brett Claydon 22 gram Steel Tip Darts - D2039Wednesday, November 17th, 2021 - The Darts Collector
Brett Claydon is a Professional Dart player that has been in the PDC since 2011.
His Mission Signature darts are a definite eye catcher. With a diameter of 6.1mm these are really pencil thin. The barrels are a touch shy of 51mm with a 26mm black point.
They come with short white Mission Grip lock shafts and 100micron white Brett Claydon signature flights.
The packaging is of a similar theme to the dart flights. I appreciate that the packaging has little impact on what’s inside but, it sets the mood or atmosphere. Inside the pack is the standard velour finish Mission tray containing the darts with shafts fitted in a point protector with a set of themed flights.
The barrels themselves are pretty standard in layout. A 6.1mm diameter barrel with a bull nose about 3.5mm long, from the end of the nose the first 25mm of barrel has 10 equally spaced square cut grooves. This is followed by a plain 10mm long ring with 3 micro grooves at each end. The rear section repeats the square cut grooves although at this end there are only 4 grooves.
This is another barrel that uses PVD coatings to highlight the barrel, gold on the front end, in the grooves and over the front micro groove section, and black on the last 13mm of the barrel.
The result is outstanding, not overdone or gaudy but a nice blend of highlights.
Throwing these darts was an absolute joy, again a balanced set straight out of the box. A set that would suit a grip on any part of the barrel and, most notably a dart that seems to respond more to a gentle direct throw as opposed to a harder hand (my opinion). I got these straight out and played a few legs, at first I was a bit shaky but, as I threw them more, the better they went. From the first leg I could produce accurate results.
I found that if I watched them in the air after release, there was no noticeable wobble or dipping in the trajectory. From the first walk I was always close to the mark, and it just kept happening.
This is clearly another set I enjoyed throwing.
Mission has produced some really outstanding darts and this, is just another to add to the list.
